RISD Global and Return to Campus

Posted: June 15, 2020

Given the ongoing and global COVID-19 pandemic and its significant impacts on travel, borders and visa restrictions, as well as RISD’s campus re-opening plans, all RISD Global off-campus learning programs are suspended for Fall 2020 and Wintersession 2021.

These unprecedented and very difficult decisions to suspend our programs -European Honors Program (EHP) and RISD Global Exchange & AICAD Mobility for Fall 2020 and Wintersession Travel Courses 2021- were deeply considered and ultimately taken for the best interest, health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and partners.

All our hopes and efforts are now focused on re-opening global off-campus programs for future semesters. We will continue to post updates about Spring + Summer 2021 on this page and the related program pages for EHP, Exchange + AICAD Mobiity, and Global Summer Studies.

No. The Palazzetto Cenci, RISD's site in Rome that hosts the European Honors Program, will be closed for the fall semester. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy, the uncertainty of the phase 2 development and further governmental requirements, as well as the enduring restrictions for non-Italian citizens to enter the country, made it clear that we will not be able to sustain a regular fall semester in Rome in the incoming months.

Global Exchange and AICAD Exchange will not be active for RISD students nor for students from our partner institution hoping to come to RISD for Fall semester 2020.
