Lessons From Abroad Virtual Conference (Day 2)
The Lessons from Abroad (LFA) virtual conference is a free event available to all students who have studied abroad in recent semesters. The free virtual conference will take place over the course of two weekends in October - the 9th/10th and 16th/17th.
Each day will consist of a variety of different sessions and opportunities for students to connect. It brings together alumni of various global education programs and professionals in the field to focus on the following key areas:
- Unpacking & Re-framing your global learning experience
- Social Justice: Diversity and accessibility in International Education and Study Abroad
- Career Resources & Going Abroad Again
- Special programming for students who attended programs that were cut short due to COVID-19 in Spring 2020
Each day will begin at 1:00 p.m. EST/10:00 am PST in order to accommodate all time zones.
Background: In 2008, “Lessons From Abroad” was born as a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers launched the first west-coast collaborative returnee conference at UC Berkeley to address a common issue of better serving our returned study abroad students in a collaborative, financially viable and meaningful way. By 2010, Lessons From Abroad was a statewide force amongst education abroad professionals and the students for whom the conference served. Ten years later, more than 80 Lessons From Abroad conferences have been held across the United States on a local basis across over 20 regions. More than 3,500 students have participated in Lessons From Abroad conferences and more than 500 professionals have volunteered their time in conjunction with the conference.
